On 20 July at 9 pm at the Antique Forum the Stara Zagora Opera together with the State Opera-Burgas will present a spectacular performance of one of the most beloved and popular operas by Giuseppe Verdi "Nabucco". The super-production is specially prepared for the Summer Season of the Bulgarian Opera Theatres "Stage of the Ages" 2016 - Veliko Tarnovo and includes the creative ensembles of both opera theatres.
The stage adaptation for the open-air stage on Tsarevets Hill is directed by Ognyan Draganov and the artist Todor Demerov. The performance will be conducted by the chief conductor of the State Opera-Stara Zagora Ivaylo Krinchev. The superproduction will be presented at the Antique Forum in Stara Zagora before the visit to Veliko Tarnovo. Stara Zagora residents will have the opportunity to applaud Alexander Krunev in the role of Nabucco, Plamen Kumpikov will perform in the role of Zacharias and Elena Barumova will play the role of the imperious Abigail. Gergana Rusekova will play the role of Fenena, Ivaylo Yovchev will play the role of Ishmael. Also taking part are the soloists Boris Taskov /Abdalo/, Emilia Djurova /Ana/, Evgeny Arabadzhiev /High Priest/, the choir and orchestra of the State Opera-Stara Zagora and the State Opera Burgas, conductor of the choir Mladen Stanev. The performance is with the special participation of the Pre-Bulgarian Survival School "Baga-Tour".
The opera Nabucco is the third opera of Giuseppe Verdi's early work, but it was already a triumphant success with its first performance in 1842 at the Milanese Scala. The famous Chorus of the Jews became the anthem of the Italian people and the most popular melody, responding to the emotional Italian spirituality and widely interpreted by all strata of society. The plot, inspired by the biblical epic, is filled with the pathos of freedom. Verdi himself points to Nabucco as a watershed work on the road to creating an individual compositional style. The maestro enriched and deepened this style, but in its essential features it remained the defining characteristic of his entire oeuvre.
From 6 to 29 July, the Antique Forum "Augusta Traiana" in Stara Zagora will once again become a summer musical stage under the stars. For nearly a month, Stara Zagora residents and guests of the "City of Lime Trees" will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of music and dance events. A total of 8 titles will be presented - 4 concerts, 2 operas, 1 ballet and 1 operetta. Two of them are co-productions - together with "Stefan Makedonski" State Theatre and State Opera-Burgas.
Each of the performances is new - adapted especially for the stage of Antique Forum, with a new version and modern multimedia.
