Director Slavcho Nikolov for JAZOSPECTION - French jazz in pictures:
We are guests on our planet!
It is entrusted to us for a little while!
It is up to us what we leave it!
JAZOSPECTION is an attempt to unite the views on life of three generations of artists. A concert seeking proof that time and age don't matter when you find the right theme , combined with the right music and personnel. The theme the concert explores is global and extremely poignant. Planet Earth is wonderful, religions teach us good, but human greed makes the world what it is today, and it is up to us to decide what it will be!
The harmony that is created between the music by Claude Bolling and the footage shot by Ron Frick is magnificent and complements the overall image of the concert. The selection of footage from the film "Baraka", corresponds with the music of the "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio".
This is "Jazzspection." A short kaleidoscopic compilation of our times, an attempt of three generations to state their message.
Musically, the concert is based on the jazz suite by Claude Bolling, a French composer who wrote the music for over a hundred films, most famously "California Suite" and "Three Men to Kill" . "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio" was written in 1975. In the same year it was nominated for a Grammy Award, in the category for "Best Chamber Music".
The suite consists of seven movements : "Baroque and Blue", "Sentimental", "Javanese", "Short", "Irish", "Universal" , "Fast".
The footage in this concert is taken from Ron Fricke's 1992 film "Baraka". A film without words , shot over 14 months, on 70 mm. film, in 24 countries, on six continents. The tape shows some of the most beautiful places in the world, in a unique frame rate. An unforgettable film that every one of us should watch.
Each part looks at the evolutionary development of our civilization in its own theme.
"Nature", "Religions", "Minerals", "The wars fought over them" , "Nations and Children" , "Urbanization" and "The System".
The authors Claude Bolling and Ron Frick , representatives of the "Baby Papers", the director Slavcho Nikolov /" The X Generation"/ and the conductor Dimitar Kosev /"The Millenniums"/ will try in this short concert , together with the help of the musicians : Iva Profirova - flute /"Millenniums"/, Dimitar Kosev - piano, Iliya Igribozov - double bass and Atanas Georgiev - drums , as well as multimedia by Plamen Asenov /"Generation X" /, to express their vision of today's world. With the message - let's try to make it better for future generations!
