The Orchestra of the State Opera - Stara Zagora and the remarkable young soloists - graduates of the NUMSI "Hristina Morfova" will have their Annual Concert on 7 May at 7 pm at the Opera House.
Krasimir Kashev, conductor of the concert, chief artistic manager of NUMSI, tells about the event.
"This is already a long-awaited concert - both by us, the teachers, and the children . The previous one was in May 2019. The concert is the realization of my idea, with which I want to encourage the current students of NUMCI "Christina Morfova" . Currently we have many former students who study at the National Academy of Music, AAMTI- Plovdiv and NATFA. I have decided to invite some of the most talented /not all/ this year and if this format of the concert is good, next year the rest of them will participate. I invited them to participate so that our audience will not forget them and so that the current students will see them. When they see them in the schoolyard, they don't recognize them. Here, on the stage - look at them, they are, they are studying right now, and you can like them! - this is the subtext of their participation.
First, I invited the two guys I have conducted at more than one and two concerts at the Opera - Georgi Belchev and Simon Pavlov, who are wonderful pianists, but study orchestral conducting at the National Academy of Music under Professors Ivaylo Krinchev and Grigor Palikarov. The boys already have some experience as conductors and it is high time our audience saw them. They are very happy with the invitation and immediately offered one overture each - Simon will conduct the one from "The Barber of Seville" and Georgi - from "So Do They All". They will be conducting the orchestra and some of the arias included in the programme.
The program includes performances by gifted students from NUMCI: from the piano classes - Mikhaela Ivanova from grade 11, my discovery, extremely talented - will play the 2nd and 3rd movements of Shostakovich's piano concerto. There will be performances on clarinet and saxophone /Dobromir Dobrev/. There will be some more singing - Gergana Todorova, Polina Pchelarova, Bozhidara Georgieva, Mihaela Yakimova from the current 11th grade, performances by students from the pop and jazz singing classes - Zara Uzunova will sing Pasha Hristova's big hit "Yantra" and Trio "Triolina" with a jazz standard. We have invited our former students, now students at the National Music Academy Radina Minkova and GalinPenev - bass guitar and drums. And the hosts of the concert will be the students of NATFA Margarita Lachezarova and Ivan Petrov.
In a word, there is a serious cohort of our former students who will participate. The surprise of the concert will be the little granddaughter of the former school director Bozhkov - Victoria Bozhkova, who will come on stage to perform for the second time. She is an incredibly talented saxophonist. The concert will feature former students of ours, who are performing in the operas in Varna, Stara Zagora, Ruse - Michaela Berova, Boris Taskov, Denis Ivanov.
So in the programme we have instruments, we have different genres, from classical opera, to operetta, to jazz."
Other former students of the Opera Orchestra - Veselina Zeynova /contrabass/, Mirena Mitreva /percussion/, Mitko Mitrev /trumpet/, Nelly Hazan /cello/, Pavlina Dimitrova /cello/, Plamena Peneva /cello/, Renny Filipova /contrabass/, etc. Among the graduates of the Music School in Stara Zagora are the world-famous opera singer Veselina Katsarova, Genko Geshev /opera singer/ - lecturer at the Faculty of Opera Singing at Duquesne University - Pittsburgh, USA, Nina Naydenova - opera director, director of Opera Plovdiv, Ognyan Draganov - opera director, director of Opera Stara Zagora and many, many other famous musicians, who can be seen on the school's website: http://www.metronom-sz.narod.ru/page-80.html
In the archives of Stara Zagora is preserved the "Regulations" of 11 December 1897 of the first music school in the country, founded by the local society "Kaval". Its founders were the champions of musical Stara Zagora - Petko Ikonomov, Georgi Baidanov and Dimitar Hadjigeorgiev, a graduate of composition at the Prague Conservatory. This school lasted only a few years, but the spark was lit.
On September 1, 1974, by order D-3 626 of May 8, 1974 of the Ministry of Education, the Music School in the town was opened. In the school year 2001 / 2002 the specialty of classical singing was restored. In the same year, a new specialisation was opened - classical dance. In 2004, another new specialty was introduced - drama theatre actor - under a project approved by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Bulgaria, and in 2008 - pop and jazz singing. In October 2006, the school was renamed the National School of Music and Performing Arts.
