Hristo Sarafov in "Paris Life"

On 10 February at 19.00 there will be a new encounter with Offenbach's cheerful music in his operetta "Parisian Life", which premiered at the end of October 2016 on the stage of the Stara Zagora Opera. The performance toured with great success in a number of Bulgarian cities. The production was directed by Rumen Neykov, conducted by Dimitar Kossev, choreography by Alida Boneva, set design by Ivan Tokadzhiev, costumes by Antonia Popova. Starring Milko Mikhailov, Ivan Kabamitov, Maria Gancheva, Yanitsa Nesheva, Hristo Sarafov-guest /favourite soloist of the National Music Theatre/, Neli Necheva, Lyubomir Petkov, Kamelia Stoycheva, Kunka Dacheva, Lili Hodjeva, Kremenna Raicheva, Teodor Petkov, Evgen Surmiyevich, Prolet Pencheva, Hristo Ivanov, Nikola Marulev, Ignat Zhelev, Ivan Kolev, Margarita Yovcheva, Kostadin Yakshev, Peter Yankulov, Tenko Djelepov, Ilko Kamenov, orchestra, choir and ballet of the State Opera-Stara Zagora.

In "Parisian Life" two love scenes unfold, one mistaken detention, but everything ends successfully and joyfully with the universal jubilation that nothing and no one can silence Art- if it is not on the stage, it will be on the streets, boulevards, everywhere! The action takes place 150 years ago, during the World's Fair in Paris in 1867. The operetta was commissioned to be written to commemorate that fair, and was composed the year before-by the now-famous Maestro Offenbach and some wonderful librettists.

"I hope we can lull the audience into this Offenbach magic - that everything is light, pours like champagne. It does seem as if it's easy, but interpretively it's not . I am convinced that the performance will be a great pleasure for the audience" - says the director Prof. Rumen Neykov.

The young conductor Dimitar Kosev says about "A Parisian Life" - "It is interesting that the music of a French operetta - by a French author and set in Paris, is very Strauss and The Bat type. It's a nice combination in a show that has beautiful music and very beautiful costumes. Our audiences will be treated not exactly to an operetta, but to a sumptuous concert of French music in which a dozen ordinary "proletarian" type people are transformed into people from the upper echelons of society and politics. And this is more or less a mirror image of today. Offenbach certainly didn't know it, that his operetta would sound so realistic is the 21st century. So as well as being entertained, we'll also be thinking - who is like this in the real world and how can they, by changing into someone else, successfully lie to so many people."
