On 17 and 18 June at 10.00 on the panoramic playground in front of the Regional Library "Zahariy Knyazheski" will take place the performances of the musical for children "Max and Moritz". This is also the first new stage of the Opera in this year's summer program under the motto "Fresh Air for Art".
With the premiere on April 14, 2014 of "Max and Moritz", an operetta for children, the State Opera-Stara Zagora celebrated 50 years of creative career of prof. Alexander Yosifov - honorary citizen of Stara Zagora since 2000, author of two works written especially for the Stara Zagora Opera - the operas for children "Toshko African" and "Robinson Crusoe". His "Dr. Ohboli", "The Wolf and the Seven Goats", "The Wonderful Adventures of Pinocchio", "Patilants" - for the young audience - have been staged here. The first production of the work in Stara Zagora was in 1995 and was the directorial debut of Ognyan Draganov.
In the 2020 reenactment, the main roles in the performance are played by students from the National School of Music and Performing Arts "Hristina Morfova". Gergana Todorova and Kristian Danchev in the role of Moritz, Yordan Petev in the role of the Music Teacher and Dimitar Dragiev in the role of the Drawing Teacher. Ivan Petrov and Margarita Lachezarova, former graduates of the Music School and now students at NATFA, play the roles of the writer Bush and Greta /restaurant owner/. The performance also features students from NMA "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" from Ognyan Draganov's opera directing class - Gabriela Ruseva /Greta/ - a former graduate of NUMSI, Ana Baldzhieva /Max/, Maria Magdalena Nedkova /Moritz/, Stoyan Buyukliev /Music Teacher/. The performance features soloists of the State Opera Stara Zagora - Nina Dimitrova /Greta/, Ivan Kabamitov /The Singer Bush/, Peter Yankulov and Evgen Surmiyevich /Bok/, Ignat Zhelev /The Barber/ and students from the ballet classes of the National School of Music and Performing Arts "Hristina Morfova" with teacher Kremena Kostova.
The author and illustrator of the literary work "Max and Moritz" is the writer-humorist Wilhem Busch (1832-1908). In 1858, Busch published his first cartoons, but it was the humorous stories of Max and Moritz, which appeared in 1865 and have been hugely successful worldwide ever since, and were first translated into Bulgarian by Elin Pelin, that made him famous. The plot presents seven amusing mischiefs of the two "hooligans" Max and Moritz. Comical and entertaining, the show captivates the audience and leaves young viewers wanting to have as much fun as their parents once did. It also leaves the lesson that in all child's play there must be moderation.
