"Don Quixote" on our stage
When the People's Artist of the USSR, Lenin Prize winner Vakhtang Mikhailovich Chabukiani left Stara Zagora, leaving us as a dear memory of meeting him his "Don Quixote" with the ballet of the Stara Zagora People's Opera, we could say with deep gratitude, "What Maestro Chabukiani did cannot be compared with anything but a miracle!"
"The Miracle is already on stage - a production that combines the virtuoso technique of the two main performers, the honored artists Snezhana Deskova and Nedelcho Izov, with the truth of the human, with inner expression and stormy temperament.
The inherent passion of an artist that Maestro Chabucchiani possesses and his boundless devotion to ballet, the high pedagogical talent and, indeed, the adolescent tirelessness in the work, maintained a constant creative upsurge among the performers, a desire to toil in spite of fatigue, to perfect the experience gained. Without this being realised, the production of Don Quixote on our stage in such a short time was simply unthinkable.
The condensed action, the richness of the means of expression, their casualness, the good scenography and the highly professional performance of the ballet company and the orchestra create a real pleasure in the performance, in which they also successfully participate: Ivan Topalov, Darina Koleva, Slaveya Kovalova, Alida Todorova, Dimitar Troshanov, Marian Georgiev, Todor Zhelev, Grigor Kostov, Georgi Stainov, Juliet Dobreva, who proved themselves worthy of their great teacher.
