In the year of Gaetano Donizetti /1797-1848/, when the world music community celebrates 220 years since the birth of the brilliant Italian composer, the Stara Zagora Opera chooses to add another masterpiece to its repertoire - the comic opera Don Pasquale. The comic opera "Don Pasquale" is a real benchmark in the genre - if we are to give an example of the ideal opera-buffa, the masterpiece of Gaetano Donizetti has all the chances to "grab" the first place in such a ranking. A funny story, quality humour, comic situations with unexpected endings, the characters are as if they had just come out of the Italian "commedia dell'arte".

Choreography Alida Boneva
Scenography Ivan Tokadzhiev
Costume designer Antonia Popova
Soloists, choir, orchestra and ballet of Stara Zagora State Opera
In "Parisian Life" two love scenes unfold, one mistaken detention, but everything ends successfully and joyfully with the universal jubilation that nothing and no one can silence Art- if it is not on the stage, it will be in the streets, boulevards, everywhere! The action takes place 150 years ago, during the World's Fair in Paris in 1867. The operetta was commissioned to be written to commemorate that fair, and was composed the year before-by the now-famous Maestro Offenbach and some wonderful librettists. "I hope we can lull the audience into this Offenbach magic - that everything is light, pours like champagne. It does seem as if it's easy, but interpretively it's not . I am convinced that the performance will be a great pleasure for the audience" - says the director Prof. Rumen Neykov.

Venice intrigues in anticipation of the carnival... Casanova is seduced and abandoned - and retires to write a memoir. In Yuri Dachev's libretto, the sentence "Someone is always watching you from somewhere" is meant to be a key maxim, a lesson for the performance. And its musical counterpart is the theme of "To Crave You," on which Georgi Kostov (who composed the song himself decades ago) set most of the music in the musical.

The soloists in the roles of Romeo and Juliet are like reborn heroes of Romanticism - tender, young, so pure in their love. Costume designer Salvatore Russo masterfully recreates the authenticity of the era in every detail. And the dancing is expressive, virtuosic, argumentative in every movement. Silvia Tomova accentuates the psychological development of the characters skillfully and thoroughly. Throughout her conception, she incorporates the philosophical search of rejected young people who do not accept the limitations of prejudice. In the second part of the ballet evening, the audience will experience another real delight for the senses with the performance "Flight to the Light". Different colours of the rainbow are incorporated into the fabulously beautiful costumes, selected music from Rossini, Tchaikovsky, Massenet, Piazzolla, Gershwin will sound in unison with all the dance sensuality of the performance, ethereal movements and different dance techniques will catch the attention and allow the audience to drift away in the flight of their fantasies. Red, blue, green, yellow, white, black, the visible and invisible colors of our soul.
