Svetlin Rusev in a French Romantic Evening with the Orchestra of the State Opera - Stara Zagora

On 10 November at 19.00 the brilliant violinist Svetlin Rusev will perform at the Stara Zagora Opera House. The symphonic concert conducted by Maestro Ivaylo Krinchev and featuring the orchestra of the Stara Zagora State Opera is part of the cycle "Bulgarian virtuosos from the world stages" and is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the death of the great French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. A rich programme including some of the most popular and beloved masterpieces for violin and orchestra will delight fans of French instrumental classics.

Here is what conductor Ivaylo Krinchev has to say:

"Following Svetlin Rusev's offer to perform works by Camille Saint-Saëns on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the composer's death, the choice of the rest of the programme took a natural shape with works by the most outstanding representatives of French Romanticism. I tried to select works that were contrasting and included examples from the earlier period, such as the Overture , "Roman Carnival" by Berlioz, to the Suite , "Pelléas et Mélisande" by Gabriel Fauré, whose music has been described as a kind of bridge between Romanticism and Modernism. If in Carnival in Rome the energetic and brilliantly orchestrated music brings to life the carnival scenes of the Piazza Colonna in Rome, in Pelléas et Mélisande Fauré has unerringly grasped with the most tender inspiration the poetic purity that pervades and envelops Metterlinck's piece. Most people know Georges Bizet through his operas for his unique ability to create charming and striking melodies. In La Harlesienne, too, one senses that appeal and sensitivity that is not only a phenomenon of orchestration, but also creates a real driving force in the music that is at the same time absolutely connected to the theatrical moment in Alphonse Daudet's play."
