46th Festival of Opera and Ballet Art-Stara Zagora`2015
Day Four
The eternal "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi in an original and provocative performance of the Burgas Opera
Thanks to the different staging and stage vision, the Stara Zagora audience will see on November 26, at 19.00 on the stage of the Stara Zagora Opera a familiar story of love, but with a much stronger charge. The performance is directed by the director of the State Opera Burgas Alexander Tekeliev, and the sets and costumes are the work of the famous Romanian set designer Catalin Arbore. The premiere of "La Traviata" took place with deserved spectacular success on June 19 this year at the Burgas Opera. In Stara Zagora , the Burgas "La Traviata" will visit with its premiere soloists, chorus, ballet and orchestra of the State Opera Burgas. In the roles of the roadless Violetta and her beloved Alfred we will see Veselina Vassileva and Daniel Damyanov. Georges Germont, Alfred's father, will be portrayed by Marjan Jovanoski. Maestro Ivan Kozhuharov is the conductor of the performance, Nevena Mihailova is the choirmaster. Concertmaster is Yordan Kovachev. The choreography is by the prima ballerina of the Opera Galina Kalcheva.
The story of the beautiful courtesan Violetta Valery and her lover Alfred Germont comes to life amid mirrored sets. Thanks to the mirrored cube in which the action takes place, the pictures unfold before the audience's eyes, as in a book. An integral part of the set are 300 white camellias scattered across the stage. They remind the audience that the opera La Traviata was inspired by the work of Alexandre Dumas Jr. In the last act, the flowers turn into crumpled and unsent letters to Alfred, except for one that symbolizes Violetta's love...
The image of Violetta Valéry will be recreated by soprano Veselina Vassileva.
