"The True Range" presented by endocrinologist Dr. Reni Koleva at the Stara Zagora Opera House
On Saturday, March 26, at 11.00 a.m. in the foyer of the State Opera - Stara Zagora a lecture-training was held with children with diabetes and their families. Dr. Reni Koleva, a pediatric endocrinologist from Stara Zagora, answered a series of vital questions related to the peculiarities and prevention of the disease, explained fascinatingly and with sincere concern which secrets of diabetes have been revealed and to what extent we can congratulate ourselves in the 21st century that we have found the "right range" /that is the name of the lecture itself - in honor of the Opera House/. The host-opera opened its doors wide for the children and their parents and gave them the opportunity to step on stage, see what lies behind the scenes, and change into costumes and hats from opera performances after the lecture.
The event is organized by Dr. Reni Koleva, who last December received the Community Award in the online voting for the Annual Good Samaritan Awards, established by the Samaritans Association - Stara Zagora.
Since 2007, Dr Koleva's office has seen more than 6,000 young patients, of which more than 1,000 children are obese and the rest are diabetic. The doctor established a local branch of the National Association of Children and Young People with Diabetes (NADMHD) in Stara Zagora a few years ago, and is also a member of the Association of Pediatric Endocrinology. More than 10 times together with children with diabetes and their parents she holds summer camps for them, discovers talents, fights for the rights of her patients. Since 2011 she has been pleading with the Ministry of Health to increase the number of test strips for diabetic patients over 18 - neither children nor working adults. The number of strips has been increased from 150 to 500 per month for patients with type 1 diabetes. Since this year, it has been pushing in a letter to the Minister for Health for concrete measures to increase the number and make insulin pumps mandatory for children under 6.
This exceptional woman, a dedicated doctor and professional, did not fail to thank the management of the State Opera-Stara Zagora and to give her sincere and friendly recommendations:
Dear Mr. Director, 90 years old. Opera!
Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to do the training of families with diabetes on your territory.
The lobby is a wonderful place to hold serious lectures/trainings/conferences.
Your team is disciplined, responsible and hardworking - I wondered if I experienced these things in Western Europe!
Every detail is polished to perfection, a smile is the main driving force and the desire for comfort is in every breath of the employees.
Seriously consider how the stage and building can be incorporated into a city tour - we did a great training session with a highly qualified tour guide.
P.S. A few facts - 1./ Most kids were entering the Opera House for the first time
2./ 70% of the parents did not know where the entrance was.
3./ Guests from Smolyan were delighted with the performance on their territory / 3 buses of people and 1 big truck of props!!!/ and are starting to follow the program for future visits!
Be healthy!
Have a great week!
Dr. Renny Koleva, Pediatric Endocrinologist
