Conductor Ivaylo Krinchev describes Eugene Onegin as a lyrical-psychological opera, ingeniously composed by Tchaikovsky on Pushkin's classic text. The musical pulsations immerse us in a world from which we are detached.
Director Slavcho Nikolov sees the relevance of the themes in the human narrative of a classical story about the choices we constantly make and the real dangers of missed opportunities.
Artist Gendoni uses an abundance of colour in Russian folk costumes, elegant ball costumes, hats and tiaras.
Premiere: 23 November, 2023, Festival of Opera and Ballet Art - Stara Zagora
Performed in Russian with Bulgarian and English subtitles.
Running time 3 hrs.
