On Valentine's Day - 14 February, a ticket for two for the outstanding Balkan comedy "Marriage by Announcement" by the most popular Croatian playwright and lyricist Miro Gavran.
The most played Bulgarian production in the United States and Canada "Marriage by Announcement" will be performed on the stage of the State Opera - Stara Zagora on February 16, 2025.
Some of the most beloved Bulgarian actors known from television, cinema and theatre - Albena Koleva, Toncho Tokmakchiev and Valentin Tanev will star in the show.
"Marriage by Announcement" is an incredible situational comedy, which reveals the fate of three lonely people who decided to find their life mate through announcements. The characters can be funny, sad, confused, but never insincere. The situations they find themselves in, and create themselves, are ridiculous, absurd and extreme. Emotional, harrowing situations where the audience will be entertained and relive the fates of the characters who are willing to do anything to not be alone.
What makes a comedy serious? Turns out it's the global theme of loneliness. "That's not to say there aren't comic and dramatic moments. The situation in the play is extreme, but that doesn't get in the way of the laughs. The audience will be entertained and learn from the behaviour of the characters, willing to do anything to not be alone," says director Valentin Tanev.
The production is by Dimitrovgrad's Apostol Karamitev Theatre and the set design is by Nikolay Ninov.
The huge audience interest in the production makes it one of the most popular and favourite plays of the audience, and tickets for it are running out fast.
